In Kuwait there are lots of small businesses and entrepreneurs are finding how to book their local domain .com.kw online. However, to book your domain .com.kw it goes by different process and takes around 2-3 weeks to get it booked and online.

The registration procedure goes through Kuwait Institute For Scientific Research.

Here what you should do:

  1. Visit http://www.kw – to check if the domain is booked or not
  2. Book your server or hosting at any company – Make sure the IP & DNS details are ready
  3. Fill up the application form
  4. Find any authorized ISP companies in Kuwait
  5. Required Documents:
    1. Individuals:
      1. An official signed and stamped company letter from the company manager requesting the domain name operation.
      2. A valid certificate from Ministry of Commerce with a clear expiry date. (This paper is needed for new registration and renewal operations)
    2. Companies:
      1. A copy from the applicant civil id.
      2. A brief hand written paragraph indicating the individual intent to register the subject domain name.

While Windows 8 launched recently. Microsoft released the new services of the new world Windows Mobile 8, which jumped huge difference compared by the recent all Microsoft Windows Mobile versions. Mobile Windows 8 got new features for businesses and individuals such as:

  • Redesigned Office hub: Microsoft has shifted things around in the Office Hub with the goal of making it easier for users to find documents. As part of this redesign, Microsoft also moved OneNote Mobile out of the Hub and made it available directly as a standalone app which can have its own tile on the Start screen by default.
  • Voice notes: Users can dictate their notes and have them automatically transcribed and added to OneNote without having to type them in by hand. To make this work, users can press and hold the Start button to activate speech, say the word “Note,” and then dictate. This capability works even when a phone is locked. (The speech setting is turned off by default.) Users also can send and reply to emails using voice. This capability works just like it does for text messages, Web searches and calling contacts. Users just need to tap the microphone button when composing a new message and start talking.
  • SmartScreen Filter: Internet Explorer 10 on Windows Phone 8 includes a Smartscreen Filter, just like IE 10 on Windows 8 does. This filter alerts users if they try to visit potentially malicious sites without having to first proactively and manually downloading lists of such sites.
  • Nokia Map technology: Nokia maps are built into all Windows Phone 8 devices. The included map data covers more than 180 countires. Usrs also can download maps for offline viewing.
  • Over-the-air updates: Updates are now delivered over the air, eliminating the need to plug a phone into a PC. Users can opt to manually check for updates; be notified when an update is available; or choose whether to automatically download updates (if you have data turned on under cellular settings and if your data settings allow it).
  • Improved Skype client: The new Windows Phone 8 Skype client keeps users signed in even when the app is closed, allowing users to be always reachable. Skype calls will remain active even if/when users navigate away from Skype. Users can receive Skype calls and chat updates while thir phones are locked. The Skype app stays “asleep” in the background until it’s woken up by an incoming chat or call, reducing battery usage. Users will see their Skype contacts displayed in the People Hub.
  • Improved multitasking: In some cases, Windows Phone 8 will automatically pause built-in and third-party apps when users do other tasks, preventing users to have to start from scratch when they return to the apps later. In other cases, apps — including music/video, location and Skype/VOIP — will be allowed to continue to execute in the background.
  • New Windows Phone client for PCs/Macs: There’s a Windows 8 Phone app; a version of this app for Windows 7 and Windows 8 desktop and a Windows Phone app client for Mac that’s similar to the current Windows Phone 7 Connector for Mac. These apps allow users to move content between their phones from their PCs (via the Share Charm); to manage phone storage and settings; and to search phone content.
  • Phone wiping safeguards: The new Windows Phones are less likely to allow users to accidentally wipe their data. If users incorrectly enter their PINs several times, they will be prompted to enter an alphanumeric phrase which needs to be entered exactly before a final PIN attempt can be made. There’s also a new Kid’s Corner capability which users can make available on their phones to provide children using their phones with a predetermined set of applications, with all other phone content protected by the lock screen and optional PIN.

Still waiting to get in hands the new version of Mobile Windows 8 to review fully.

Last Thursday I was in Dubai attending the last day of Gitex 2012 Technological Expo. I attend Gitex once since 2007 and this was my second time to Gitex. There is a huge difference with the services, organizing team, structure of the expo, activities, facilities and more. Gitex 2012 made extremely professionally in regarding the presentation for the guests whether its individuals or businesses. Additionally, I even haven’t finished visiting all of the halls, as Gitex venue has covers 9 large halls in Dubai International Exhibition Centre.

First of all, I signed by before two weeks ago and paid online to get a pass to Gitex, which cost around 14KD per person and of course it has to be a guest from any relevant businesses/companies.

Gitex 2012 covered almost everything in technology, electronics, gadgets, mobiles, apps and more. Also the most thing I loved is the seminars and workshops which every company organized in Gitex.

However, most of the large companies worldwide has participated in Gitex this year such as Samsung, Norton, Oracle, Intel, STC, HP, Dell, Toshiba and etc.

After I’ve completed quarter of Gitex, I planned to attend an hour seminar with STC about Mobiles & Apps Ecosystem. As each of the large firms organizes daily activities, seminars and workshops for the guests which is really a wonderful idea of training principles to the guests. Even more, I’ve attended couple of seminars with Norton, Samsung and etc.

Technology is a subject that gets high trends daily in the earth. Especially the items that are related to the Internet, social media, electronics, mobiles, computers and such gadgets. As the world now celebrates with reaching a SDHC Memory Card with 64GB which is really amazing with the size and capacity. This is how people believe in the change of the technology world.

Finally, I really enjoyed the trip to Dubai specially had a chance to life whole day in Gitex, even though I haven’t seen every single part in Gitex with the limited time.

From now I see “HELLO WORLD”

Charge Watchdog keeps an eye on your device while it is charging. The Watchdog will sound the alarm when a criminal tries to escape with your phone and by the way, when your device is 100% charged.

It is really an app which you have to download it from the AppStore. It helps me a lot to remove the device from the charging dock after its fully charged.

VIVA was the first telecommunication company in Kuwait that organized an online auction. Personally, I loved the idea of creating these auctions online for each person to bid on the his own join by monitoring the auction. This auction was made for only VIP/Golf numbers which looks the numbers and prices for me really crazy.

Hopefully this auction is moving on and waiting for who’s will be the owner of these numbers.

Check more about the auction by visiting VIVA’s Auction Panel
