Zain’s profit in Q1 of 2010

KUWAIT, May 13 (KUNA) — Zain Telecom Group announced Thursday that its profit for the first quarter of the current fiscal year, 2010, was at USD 179.1 million. Zain Group Chairman Asaad Al-Banwan told the press that the total earnings of the Zain Group in the Mideast region reached USD 1.15 billion, an increase of 11 percent from the 2009′s number of USD 1.04 billion.
Regarding the financial status of Zain in the first quarter, Al-Banwan indicated that despite the shifts on its operational mechanism, Zain had achieved 24 percent growth in its operational net profit. He also noted that profit for shareholders had also increased in the first quarter by 10 percent, settling at USD 8.72 billion in contrast to the USD 7.95 billion number in the same period in 2009.

Harrods store is sold to Qatar Holdings

Good morning from London.  I have heard from BBC news about Harrods has been sold for a purchase price of about £1.5 billion, thats about $2.2 million. The owner Mohammed Al Fayed has agreed to sell the exclusive west London store to Qatar Holdings.  

After 25 years as chairman of Harrods, Mohamed Al Fayed has decided to retire and to spend more time with his children and grand-children, Lazard Chairman Ken Costa said on Saturday.

Al Fayed, who also owns English soccer club Fulham, bought Harrods in 1985 for about 615 million pounds at a time when the group also owned the House of Fraser department store chain, which was later spun off.

Where could I buy my iPad?

One of my reasons for visitng to London is getting a new WiFi iPad. Yesterday, I was in Apple store in Regent Street opposite to Hamley’s toys store. I was asking for Apple iPad and one of their staff informed me that it is not yet been launched in United Kingdom. I was really disappointment because most of the countries in the world have got the iPad such as Brazil, United States, Dubai, Qatar, Malaysia, Kuwait. But why is it not yet launched in United Kingdom, and it will be available by 25th of May 2010.

My other solution is to order it from Apple Online Store, by using Aramix shop&ship, and they have replied by this email:

So my next step, I will get one from Kuwait, as all of the companies in Kuwait don’t provide warranties with the iPad.

The original BlackBerry Pearl 8100 series has been launched out by the orginal Blackberry organisation. The phone has lasted essentially unchanged for well over three years.

The Pearl 9100, the phone becomes RIM’s very first with 802.11n WiFi support (in addition to 802.11b and g, naturally) and features a 3.2 megapixel camera, 256MB of internal storage with microSD expansion up to 32GB, GPS, triband HSDPA with quadband GSM / EDGE, and a 360 x 400 display.

In addition, it will be available in the Middle East by next month.

iPAD VS. iPAD !!

Ok this backes up my USE theory, check out the iPad prices in kuwait VS. the iPad prices in US. And I didn’t even get the prices from ebay or amazon, I took them from the Apple stor it self.
