Lately today VIVA published via their website and social media (Twitter) for activate the first telecommunication company in Kuwait using the 4G services.  4G ideal for the mobile consumer who is seeking to replace a wifi network with speed-equivalent or faster mobile technology through smartphone tethering or mobile broadband devices. 4G average speeds are targeted to be in the 100Mbps to 1Gbps range, roughly 10 to 100 times (dependent on location) faster than 3G networks. At that rate, that 4-minute MP3 download would take you mere seconds.

Prince Alwaleed bin Talal announced today that he’s purchased an approximately 3-percent stake in social media site Twitterfor $300 million. Alwaleed is one of the wealthiest men in the world and his interest in Twitter could mean even bigger things for the site in the future. In August, Twitter raised $800 million from private investors and was valued at $8.4 billion. Alwaleed’s stake could value the company at more than $10 billion now.

The Twitter stake, bought jointly by Alwaleed and his Kingdom Holding Co investment firm, resulted from “months of negotiations”, Kingdom said in a statement.

Applying an $8 billion valuation figure for Twitter used by some analysts, the investment by Alwaleed and Kingdom amounts to a 3.75-percent stake.

Twitter, which allows people to send 140-character text messages, or Tweets, to groups of so-called followers, is one of the Web’s most popular social networking services, along with Facebook and Zynga.

The company said in September that was in no hurry to undertake a hotly anticipated initial public offering. It raised $400 million in venture capital financing this summer.

It now counts more than 100 million active users who log onto the service at least once a month.

At the Arab Museum of Modern Art in Doha, Qatar this week, Chinese artist Cai Guo-Qiang put on his largest “explosion event” of the last three years, utilizing microchip-controlled explosives to form incredible designs and patterns. The video we’ve embedded of the event is an impressive testament to how a volatile black powder explosion can be controlled and shaped by computer.

Each set of explosions was calculated to paint a different picture. One series of explosions created black smoke clouds that looked like “drops of ink splattered across the sky.” In another, 8,300 shells embedded with computer microchips exploded in a pyramid shape over the desert.

One Question: Why we don’t have these things here in Kuwait?

Notes:

- This will not work with iPad 2, nor the iPhone 4S.
- This is a tethered jailbreak, meaning that it will require you to connect the phone to a computer running Redsn0w whenever you power up the phone.
