Through a pledge we sent out from out blogs we managed to find a generous and kind sponsor to save Abdul Kareem’s cancer infected leg by providing treatment for him. The amount of people who were touched by his case and wanted to help out in any way possible was overwhelming.

Unfortunately cancer patients are still being discovered everyday and not all of them can afford to have treatment. Such is the case of little baby Fahad born to a Kuwaiti mother and a Syrian father. He has lukimeia. He needs bone marrow transplant. None of his family members can be donors as they are not compatible. He can have the transplant in India but he needs 37 thousands KD. Why isn’t he able to have his transplant in Kuwait when we is beyond me but his medical report is here if you know how to read the medical language (Medical Report PDF).

In Abdul Kareem’s case it was a pledge to save his leg. In Baby Fahad’s case its a pledge to give him a chance to grow up and living a life. To grow up, to go to school, to eat, to laugh, to play, to fast Ramadan and enjoy the ups and downs of life. To get married and have babies of his own. To have a death bed with his children and grandchildren gathered around him as he takes his last breaths. A life!

Here is how you can help: spread the word! Blogs, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram,  Whatsapp, BBM, Family Gatherings, Work, School, College! Spread the word until a donor comes up to help out baby Fahad as its the last hope for him!

Well, I’m a person who has some post-operation history since 18 years ago and under daily treatment. Anyway, I tried to prepare my medications cupboard, which I have lots of unused medications at home. So is there a place where I could take them for other people to use. If no, I hope there could be a public unused medical pharmacy for people to use for their needs. Most of them are not used at all, as you know when you to a clinic they give you tons of medicines for nothing, specially the private sectors.

People with Diabetes can enjoy travelling just as much as anyone else. They can usually do all the things that they wish to do when traveling with a little extra planning.

The Clinical Pharmacology Department of the Dasman Diabetes Institute is launching its second one day community outreach campaign, “Ask about your Medication – During Hajj” at the Marina Mall on October 21, 2011 which aims to enhance the awareness of the public in the state of Kuwait about medication and travel in particular at the HAJJseason which is soon to come.

Keeping well during Hajj is a challenge for people with diabetes. However, with proactive planning and education, it may prove to be an excellent opportunity for reviewing management and enhancing diabetes education to reduce diabetes-related short- and long-term problems that they could encounter during performing Hajj. People with diabetes should have enough time to consider a management plan. It is important that both; Diabetes patients and healthcare professionals are well informed regarding the effects of Hajj on Diabetes and are able to take all reasonable steps required to stay healthy while they are away from home.
